I have noticed over the years that the cost of stone bench tops has reduced significantly to the point where it is now half of what it used to be.  Reason being nearly every home builder it is a standard inclusion to supply stone bench tops to the kitchen bench tops.  It's the old supply and demand rule in manufacturing if you can produce more you can reduce cost.
